This basket is a miniature of the original Nantucket Lightship basket.  Nantucket Island craftsmen learned the art of making baskets from the local Indians, using native materials to make sturdy baskets with scrimshaw tops for decoration.  This replica is crafted from pewter, is plated with 24 kt. gold tone or sterling silver tone and includes a miniature penny.  It is finished with hand-etched scrimshaw, as was the original Nantucket basket.  Also available in sterling silver  $ 60.00 and 14 kt. gold (chains additional).
